There are 28 types of collagen. Each one has a different genetic code and they are named with roman numbers. The most important are type I, II, III, IV and IV. Collagen type I is the most common n the human body, representing 90% of total collagen.
From the age of 25 the body loses 1% of collagen every year. By the time you are 50, your body has loosed 25% of collagen. This happens because of tissue maturing, the collagen degradation is higher that its production.
